Puppy's First Groom

The first groom isn't about the haircut. It's about teaching your puppy that the table, the dryer and the clippers are no big deal. Get that right and every groom for the next fifteen years is easier.

We keep first visits calm and short, with lots of breaks. The goal is a puppy who walks back in next time with their tail up.

When to book: once your vet says vaccinations are far enough along. Ask them, then tell us in the quote form where your puppy is at.

What helps at home

  • Touch paws, ears and face daily so handling feels normal
  • Let them hear a hair dryer or electric toothbrush from a distance, with treats
  • Brush for a minute a day, even if there's nothing to brush yet
  • Don't wait until the coat is a problem. Early and often beats late and scary.
