From a house full of antlers to Winnipeg's natural pet health store
Barks N Purrs started as Antler World Dog Products — a one-man operation run out of Curtis's house, sourcing naturally shed elk, moose, and deer antlers from across Manitoba. Then came chicken feet. Then everything else. By spring 2018 there was a kiosk at Kildonan Place Mall, and eventually a storefront.
In 2022, Kira — who'd worked in the business for three years — bought Antler World at 23 years old and kept it growing. Her two spoiled Hungarian Vizslas, Emma and Kylo, have been quality-control testers ever since. Curtis's German Shepherd mix, Khaya, is the reason any of this exists in the first place.
A new chapter: 925 Headmaster Row
In January 2026, Antler World became Barks N Purrs and moved into our own store at 925 Headmaster Row, Winnipeg. Same local roots, way bigger mission: natural pet health, done properly.
What makes us different from the big-box stores:
- Canadian-only raw food. Big Country Raw, SMACK (made in Winnipeg), Carnivora (Saskatchewan), and Perfectly Raw (Manitoba). If it's on our raw shelf, it was made in Canada.
- Manitoba-made supplements. Local mushroom blends, harp seal oil, CBD, and more — picked by staff who actually use them.
- In-store dog grooming. Two experienced groomers, one dog in, one dog out. Book a groom here.
- Free pet wellness plans. Our Furmilia™ wellness platform builds a personalized nutrition and supplement plan for your dog or cat — free, exclusive to Barks N Purrs in Canada.
- Certified staff who know pets. Ask us anything. We feed this stuff to our own dogs.
